October 4th- Hayride at Binder Lake, followed by a Harry Potter book club party at our house! Butter beer, spider cupcakes, Bertie Bott's every flavor beans, and a whole lot of fun! 
October 5-6th: General Conference awesomeness. "Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith."-Dieter F. Uchtdorf
October 7th: Up at
4:30, CrossFit at 5, grocery shopping, shower, scriptures, breakfast,
dinner in the crockpot, sack lunches made, kids dressed and out the
door, only 20 minutes late for Classical Conversations. Not bad for a Monday.
October 10th: "Fake and Injury Day" at Freedom Clubs. Some injuries were more real than others.
October 11th: Eden drew this amazing picture of her dad's big muscles:
October 12th: Justin & Brock went to merit badge university. I pulled Austin & Brandon out of their YMCA soccer game because I couldn't handle listening to their coach's temper tantrums another minute! We headed to the Huey's house for some fun cousin time instead. Later, we met up with Dad & Brock for Arris' pizza on the Capitol lawn. Gorgeous fall evening. I love this time of year!
October 15th: Austin declares a waffle day. He makes waffles for breakfast. While the waffles were cooking, the dogs tore a piece of rain gutter off the house with something alive trapped inside. They managed to clamp both ends of the gutter shut so whatever was inside couldn't get out, and then spent the next several hours dragging the gutter all over the yard. We finally caught up with them that afternoon and cut the gutter open to see what was inside. We found three poor, mangled, slobbery chipmunks! Crazy day!
October 16th: Field trip to the oldest Jewish temple west of the Mississippi...right here in Jefferson City!
October 17th: Field trip to the Bradford Research Farm (University of Missouri), including an awesome corn maze and pumpkin patch!
October 21: Built a blanket tent in the living room. Theoretically, it helped the boys get motivated to do their math assignments. Meanwhile, I had the following conversation with Eden:
Eden: "Why is it called 'wild' rice?"
Me: "I don't know. That's a good question."
Eden: "Why, when kids ask a question that an adult doesn't know the answer to, do they say, 'that's a good question'"?
Me: "I don't know. That's a good question."

October 22nd: Three boys huddled around a small wood pile in front of the fireplace:
"Look at that spider!"
"It's not a spider, it doesn't have two body parts."
"Yes it does. If you look closely, you can see two body parts right there."
"Should I burn it?"
"Look! There are two spiders!"
Science lesson completed before breakfast had even started.

October 26th: Firepit with friends and four wheeling with my baby. Beautiful day!
October 28th: Jack-o-Lantern Jam at Jefferson City High School. Uncle Chris spoiled us with lots of candy from the Spanish department! Eden commented, "Good thing my dad is a dentist!"
October 30th: Field trip to the Lincoln University GIS lab (Geographic Information Systems), followed by a fun Halloween Chemistry demonstration & party!
