MVP....or Not...

Saturday morning, Brock played in his first ever basketball game! He was so gosh darn cute to watch! The Osage Hills Baptist Church sponsors an Upward Basketball league that has done an excellent job with the kids. I love Brock's coaches, and the whole philosophy of a non-competitive, uplifting, gospel-based sports program. There was plenty of hype building up to the game with the "Let's Get Ready to Rumble" music playing as the team players were announced. They even had cheerleaders lined up to usher them onto the court. All of the kids had about the same level of experience with basketball, meaning that it wasn't exactly a high-scoring game, but they seemed to have fun playing the part with their hands in the air and running up and down the court. Brock got the ball a couple of times and made one attempt at a basket....unfortunately it was the wrong basket...fortunately it didn't go in. He must take after his mother. He had fun anyway, though, and is excited for another game next Saturday!

Here's Brock taking his turn "on the bench" next to his coach, Julie Thomas. There are only six kids on his team, and everyone gets plenty of playing time.

Here are the cheerleaders. Brock was disappointed that his girlfriend from school wasn't in this group. She must have been cheering for a different game this day.

My little superstar:

How cute is that?????!!!! I can't wait until we settle in a little bit more and get Josh into fun stuff like that. I don't even know where to begin finding such programs to be honest!!

Sounds like a great b-ball program for the kids. All fun and no hard core competition is great!

Good job Brock!!
